ATI 8.26.18 Drivers

Hey,
I followed the instructions here

With the libGL.so.1.2 from ATI's driver i get this error http://pastebin.ca/89080 (libGL.so is a symlink that points to libGL.so.1.2) so i realized that ATI's lib is messed, so i replaced it with the one from libgl1-mesa-glx_6.4.2-1_i386.deb and now when i "# fglrxinfo" I get this http://pastebin.ca/89082

Any idea where i go from here? Do i need another libGl.so.1.2 to replace the one i have now?

oh this is just daft... i fixed this myself about 10 minutes ago... just weird. yeah i replaced the libGL.so.1.2 but actually overwrote the mesa-libGL files as well as the ati ones, and it worked great. i did it on fedora, but it's irrelevant really. just get a deb for 8.24.8 and copy the files out of there.

That did it!
Thanks so much...
LoL but the truth is i had actually just thought of that solution... but i was about to get the file for the 8.25.18 driver...

Well I used the one you suggested, 8.24.18 (the libGL.so.1.2 file)

Thank you!

For anyone else who reads this thread, this is how i solved it:

My current directory was /home/ice/ATI/ NOT /
Code:
$ wget https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ati-driver-installer-8.24.8-x86.run

# sh ati-driver-installer-8.24.8-x86.run --buildpkg Debian/unstable

(used ARK to extract the data.tar.gz file)

Then

# tar zxvf data.tar.gz

Then

# find ./ | grep GL
I then copied the libGL.so.1.2 to /usr/lib (and of course libGL.so is a symlink to libGL.so.1.2
Thats not ver organized but should get the problem solved

That didn't work for me. I installed 8.26.18 and used the libGL.so.1.2 from 8.24.xx and although I have direct rendering with fglrx, when I run any opengl app, linux freezes.
