Atheros 8151 network Drivers

I just setup a new intel i3 box with atheros Ar8151 networking.
However, I am not able to locate the proper driver. Any suggestions? I Google to no avail

'ss Gott tonya,
isn't it the atl1c driver you're supposed to use. It's in the current kernel. Should be no problem for you.
ciao,
jdk

Current kenel for Testing or Sid?

jdkaye 08-28-2011 11:33 AM

Either, I would guess. I'm running a 3.0-1.dmz.2-liquorix-amd64 kernel with Wheezy and I've got it so I'm sure that Sid has it too.
ciao,
jdk

OK I guess I will have to use the first cd then since it does not
recognize the atheros from the net install..

Thanks for the fast reply

Why not do a netinstall? Wouldn't that be simpler? Then you could pick out exactly what you need.

Why not check whether if the system has loaded atl1c, via lspci -k, first?
If it is loaded, then you are probably missing the firmware since its not included in the debian kernel and you have to install it seperately.

on network install, I dont get past the search for network devices, so a network install is out of the question

Why not try a Knoppix LiveCD. Knoppix is very clever about finding your hardware. In the old days many people would get their hardware configuration by first running knoppix. then they would use that info to install debian. Anyway it might be useful to see what knoppix makes of your system.

it did not work....seems that the ar8151 wired network adapter is not being recognized.

:redface: well i am embarrassed. turns out the problem was the sata bios configuration. had it set for idepata simulation instead of native sata....all along i thought the problem was the network card.

thanks for the suggestions

Boy, I am glad that this time it was you instead of me doing something like that. It is embarrassing.

Glad it is working for you.
