Argh, dependency problem
# apt-get install libxslt1.1
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libxslt1.1: Conflicts: libxslt1 (< 1.1.2-2) but 1.0.33-3 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
I am running debian unstable.
I just don't get it, what can I do about this problem? What does it mean? Should I file a bug report at debian.org when receiving these kind of dependency problems?
I appreciate all the help I can get...
Regards
Jens

According to the packages libxslt1.1 doesn't depend on libxslt1 ( libxslt1 is a transition packagage to ease the upgrading ). Try updaing then try again.

Try installing libxslt1 then libxslt1.1 and then upgrading.

Well, libxslt1 is already installed. And it is libxslt1.1, which seems to depend on libxslt1.1 somehow, that I'd like to have installed (because yelp depends on it and gnome-desktop-environment depends on yelp). Allt this problem occured when I was going to install gnome...
Do you know if libxslt1.1 100% backward compatible? If so I can just force apt-get to install libxslt1.1...

AS far as I'm aware libxslt1 was a transistional package used to solve dependancies, while 1.1 was put in place. This happens in Unstable to try and prevent dependancy problems when upgrading key libs or changing strategies/names. This is why its unstable, and you seem to have got trapped somewhere
You can try the forcing of libxslt1.1 to see if it solves your problem. Both are installed and are the latest versions on my machine. Though I don't have GNOME installed to see what your problem could be.
You could also try a dist-upgrade. Which I have found can sometimes clear these problems.

You must do a dpkg -i --force-overwrite with the libxstl1.1 deb. Note: if what I just said didn't make any sense to you, perhaps you shouldn't be running unstable
