arabic fonts


hello,
i'm sharing an external HDD using samba with other windows PCs, but i can't see any arabic named file, any suggestions??

i've installed the xfonts-intl-arabic package nothing changed

Can you see local files in arabic? If so then it is a samba problem which I'm not sure about. If not, make sure you have the appropriate modules loaded in the kernel (codepage utf-8,etc). Also make sure the program you're using to view supports arabic.

You need to mount it with the right codepage:
mount /dev/hda1 /win -t vfat -o codepage=864,iocharset=utf8
You can do the same with smb shares. See this page:
