Aptitude: How do install suggested packages automatically?

I've added the following line
Code:
APTITUDE::Keep-Suggests "true";
into /etc/apt/apt.conf.

However, when I install a package, the suggested packages are not automatically installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks !

Invoke aptitude on the cli with the -r option:
Code:
aptitude -r <package-name>
This automatically installs dependencies of the named package. See also the man pages: man aptitude.

-r option is for installing recommended packages. I'm looking for installing suggested packages automatically.

Thanks though.

Np, any clue on getting suggested packages to be installed automatically? Adding in the line APTITUDE::Keep-Suggests "true"; into /etc/apt/apt.conf doesn't seem to work for me.

Does it work for you?

I'll put in the url that provides me with the info, in case I miss out something:

http://people.debian.org/~dburrows/a...igKeepSuggests

And scrolling down we have

Option: Aptitude::Keep-Suggests
Default: false
Description: If this option is true, aptitude will keep automatically installed packages on the system as long as any installed package suggests them. For more information, see the section called “Managing automatically installed packages”.

Somehow adding Aptitude::Keep-Suggest "true"; into /etc/apt/apt.conf doesn't work for me.

Thanks.

See:

If Aptitude::Keep-Suggests is true, a Suggests relationship is also enough to keep a package installed.
but this only keeps it, it does not install.

Unlike Aptitude::Recommends-Important, there does does not seem to be a comparable Aptitude::Suggests-Important.

Maybe a feature request ...

I suppose you could alway try: aptitude --with-recommends --with-suggests install <packagename> from the command line.
