apt troubles[ is my system broken?]

Hello all I am on Debian Sarge with 2.6 kernel.
When ever I try to install something with apt-get it says

debian:~# apt-get install numlockx
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: The package j2sdk needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
debian:~#

what should i do? I tried removing j2sdk but again......

debian:~# apt-get remove j2sdk
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: The package j2sdk needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
debian:~#

I cant do anything with apt now. Any solutions?

Have you done anything with your sources? Since it have the app configured for doing some stuff but it can't locate it in the archive.

Try
apt-get -f install
or
apt-get update.
It this don't work try downloading the app with
apt-get -md install j2sdk.
If this still fails I would try
apt-get --purge --force-yes remove j2sdk,
although this is not really recommended since it can be a little dangerous.

Note that I am not sitting at a Debian machine at the time so maybe I have some syntax errors within the commands. Fix them by using the man.

Hi. Both of my Debian boxes give me strange apt responses unless I do an occasional "updatedb". This seems to let everything know where it is at. If you have never done this it will sometimes set for quite a while acting like it is hung, be patient, depending on the amount of work it is doing it can take a while. Hope this helps.
