hello everybody
can i do an upgrade on separate sessions ? means download everyday a couples of packages until finishing it ?
cause i can t do that in one once i have a real slow connexion !
what to do please.
You can download package after packagage. You can always ctrl+c 'apt-get update' (of course when just finished a package). Next time it'll start from the package you pressed ctrl+c at. Downloaded packages are kept in case, so don't delete it and make sure you have enough space in /var for them.
I haven't used the original Debian version, but apt on RedHat has a option to just download... -d . Once you have everything you need, go in and install the packages yourself.
Just to add to Mara's post. If you ctrl+c in the middle, apt-get won't install until all of the necessary package are downloaded. I feel your pain. I've downloaded the entire base distributions of both potato and woody over a 33.6 k modem. Each distribution amounted to downloading intermittently for about five long days. Good luck to you.
thanx for al ur answers that's what was happned , i just stopped it , the next time i used apt-get upgrade it started from the last package !
thanx again
