Apm power mangment on a laptop.

Where do I got to edit a file so I can get APM to work and allow me to use the power managment options for a laptop? ANything else I should know?

You should have the apmd package installed. You should also (probably) pass apm=on (and perhaps apci=off) to the kernel when you boot (as a boot parameter, check Grub or Lilo documentation).

I didn't have to edit any specific files to get it running.

Yes, you will probably run into problems... :) APM should work fairly well. You may have problems resuming from a suspend (apm --suspend). Depending on the problem youmay have to unload/load USB and/or sound modules (as an example).
