apache installation

After installing Debian I installed the apache webserver, php, mysql and proftpd server.

When I create a new system user, which would be granted ftp, ssh and web access, they dont get a public_html folder inside their /home dir automaticly. That gives a lot of fustration cause when a user connects throught FTP they start uploading the html files to the home dir.

How do I set up my server to create the public_html in each users home dir when I create a new user on the box?

you should be able to just create a dummy directory in /etc/skel/ which would be copied over along with the default .bashrc etc.

to enable requests to the userīs home-dir, edit httpd.conf (or apache.conf, donīt know exactly whats the name on debian):

Quote:
UserDir enable
UserDir public_html
in module īmod_userdir.cī and check Directory-entry for ī/home/*/public_htmlī
