annoying behavior with DCHP-discover

I have a relatively new installation of sarge. When I'm in console-only mode (no X), I get these sporadic messages:

DROPPED IN=eth0 OUT = MAC=ff:ff:fff.........................

This can happen while I'm in the middle of typing a command or editing a file.

Any ideas. I'm guessing it's from discover, kudzu, or whatever.

Not really a direct solution, but a workaround:

Don't use the first virtual console, as those messages are thrown in there.
Press e.g. ctrl+alt+F2 (or F3, F4, F5, F6) to use some other virtual console where those system messages aren't dumped to.

Already tried that. They seem to show up in all the virtual consoles

i think this is that, more dug on ulogd and your firewall on source code and documentation.

Sometimes firewall spits its log messages to the console, which can be very annoying if you want to do something outside X. If you use FireHOL, you can fix this by installing the "ulogd" package (apt-get install ulogd) and adding the line ...
