aMSN connection timed out
 

I can't get MSN to work on my debian box, I have tried both aMSN and Gaim. Had the box running RedHat a couple of months ago and that worked just fine. I get the error Connection Timed out. Any idea what the problem could be?

might be your firewall stopping the traffic.
I can not think of an easy way of testing but if you have not setup a specific firewall administration system like guaddog I would try
iptables -L
(as root) and check for the MSN port, (sorry not sure what it is), or if you are more adventurous sniff the packets via
ethereal
