ALSA won't work with VIA 82C686
i've got sound card integrated with my motherboard. that it VIA 82C686 (AC 97). so far i've been using KDE 3.2.1, and sound was working fine. i've compiled proper module into kernel, that is via82cxxx_audio. now i've installed GNOME 2.4. there is no sound at all. i've downloaded and compiled alsa 1.0.1, and made it use via82xx module that was delivered with it. it says that it is one that should work with my sound card. but still there is no sound. that's what i get after typing lsmod:
Module Size Used by Tainted: P

i suppose that if i made ALSA use via82cxxx_audio module that was delivered with my kernel, there'd be a chance to make it work. is there a way i could make ALSA use other modules than those delivered with it?
