hallo guys,
i am stuck on a stupid problem: i am trying to guess what 'card' and 'device' actually mean for alsa, because i have observed a weird behaviour. Looking into /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf i can see:
Code:
defaults.ctl.card 0
defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0
and
Code:
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC663 Analog [ALC663 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC663 Digital [ALC663 Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
so i guess my alsamixer should control the Intel card, in particular the ACL663 device.
actually alsamixer reports as 'chip' the HDMI device.
now, considering that i believe that 'card' means the bus from analog plugs and speakers to the chipset, and that my card equips 3 different chipsets (?), why alsamixer keeps managing HDMI stuff, while alsa is actually configured to set ctl to the ACL663 analog output?
thank you
p.s. i forgot before some latest jessie official updates, alsamixer correctly reported ACL663 analog as managed device..
