airstar hd5000 on debian etch

I'm having difficulty getting a airstar hd5000 card to work on a fresh install of Debian etch with a stock 2.6.18 kernel.
This box is being built for mythtv.
I've been googling and reading for a couple days and am more confused now then when I started.

I've read that this card is fully supported in kernel versions 2.6.15 and above.
The tut's I've read deal with 2.4.14 and below so I'm not sure if they apply to the version I'm running.

lspci detects the card

It appears that the kernel detects and initializes the card properly

mythtv appears to detect the card but can't use it.
I'm also confused on how to test this card in linux (ie without mythtv)
I've installed dvb-utils and have tried a scan but every channel gets a tunning failure.

I don't know what to do next. Could somebody suggest a course of action?

I'm no expert, but it could be becuase of the following error:
Code:
b2c2-flexcop: i2c master_xfer failed
b2c2-flexcop: i2c master_xfer failed
b2c2-flexcop: i2c master_xfer failed
mt352_read_register: readreg error (reg=127, ret==-121)
b2c2-flexcop: i2c master_xfer failed
nxt200x: nxt200x_readbytes: i2c read error (addr 0x0a, err == -121)
Unknown/Unsupported NXT chip: 00 00 00 00 00
Is "b2c2-flexcop" the corrct module for the device? If yes, it seems to have a problem communicaing with it.

The project has been put on hold for a while due to lack of time.
