Adsl Usb Modem
I have an HD installation of knoppix 3.3, but I can't get my Atlantis I-Storm USB ADSL modem working. It uses a Conexant AccessRunner Chipset and I have studied all online documentation for it. It uses ppp over atm (and Knoppix support pppoatm) but in order to compile the drivers, I need to make menuconfig the kernel, but... there is no kernel source in Knoppix!!!
Any help?

Even if you manage to compile the kernel, it might not work as there is no driver for your modem. The kernel log would be something like "usb device is found on address xxx, but it is not claimed by any driver".
It seems at present Alcatel speedtouch is the only one supported by Linux( kernel 2.4.25).
Since every adsl isp seems to be giving free usb modem and people are really going for it, I hope we may get more support for usb modem soon.

Not fully correct. When I type lsusb (look at the Info Center in KDE), the kernel finds the ADSL USB Modem, and also find its Conexant AccessRunner chipset, the vendor ID, and other data.
I hve the driver source (there is a project on sourceforge for Conexant AccessRunner), but in order to compile the driver I need to "make menuconfig" the kernel (not compile it) in order to include the ppp over atm option.

You can download the 2.4.24 kernel-source recompile the kernel with experimental options and the other modules you need and install it.
