Adobe Flash Player

I am using Debian 9, 64-bit. Not much of a Linux expert...

If I install Adobe Flash Player according to these instructions:
https://linux4one.com/how-to-install...yer-on-debian/
...the package manager will alert me that there is a new version of Flash Player when issuing these commands in Terminal:
Code:

    apt update
    apt upgrade

Right??

PS: I am aware that Chromium has Flash Player built in! I prefer using Firefox...

I believe so because the instructions ask you add a third party software repository so given that, the package manager (apt) is handling the install and will be able to tell if an update is needed when you run
Code:

apt update
.

I know some people still use flash, but it can't be soon enough that it is killed off. It's very bad technology in terms of security. My .02.

I guess you won't be able to follow that verbatim since $(lsb_release -sc) will return "stretch" which is not an Ubuntu release. You'll need to pick an appropriate Ubuntu release. Perhaps xenial?

I suspect you're looking for the niceness of being notified of updates from apt. Have you seen this Debian Wiki page FlashPlayer - https://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer?

Indeed.

tb75252, the tutorial you linked is very, very naughty because it does not distinguish between Ubuntu and Debian.

If you really use debian, this is what you do:
