Adaptec 2930u2 on debian

Hello, I'm trying to install debian onto an old PC which has a SCSI drive and an adaptec 2930u2 card. The drive is installed fine from a hardware perspective (I did tests in the scsi bios and everything).

But the debian installer (woody, latest, from a boot cd i made from the image) claims there are no drives. It asks me for a floppy to make it see the drives. I did get the installer to go onto the network but that didn't help (I was hoping it would just download the driver).

Has anyone else used a 2930u2 card with linux, and where would I get whatever I need to put onto a floppy? (Assume I've never done this before.)

Also btw, Knoppix has no problem- it can mount the paritions on the drive just fine (and knoppix is debian based right?). Frustrating.

Linux drivers aren't listed on the adaptec site but they must exist if knoppix can do it:
