acpi help on Sarge, HP laptop

I just bought a HP Pavilion ze2315us with a Sempron 3000+ with "PowerNow", 1.8GHz.

I'm currently running Debian Sarge dual booted on my desktop and am loving it. I want to get Debian on my laptop ASAP but am concerned about the ACPI. Will a standard Sarge desktop install recognize the ACPI on it's own? I read that the the ACPI controls the cooling fans and the processor could burn up if it isn't recognized.

Would Ubuntu be a better choice for my laptop?

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Update Sarge to Etch adding along ACPI packages via apt.

Thanks for the reply I'll give it a try.

Does Sarge with a 2.6 kernel just not support ACPI?

I am running Debian Sarge on Kernel 2.6.8-2-686-smp and was getting CPU0 Temperature above threshold error messages and found that the fans were not running on my Compaq Presario Desktop. I found that ACPI did not get installed when I installed Debian Linux Sarge. I went into Aptitude and installed ACPI and the fans started right up. Maybe that will be all you will have to do when you install Sarge on your laptop.
