A little problem with mplayer

When I run mplayer appears a windows that said this:

New_Face failed. Maibe the font path is wrong. Please supply the text
font file (~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf).

So, I've no font file in ~./mplayer. And I create a file, in ~./mplayer with the name subfont.ttf, but the problem remains.

I believe this is a problem with the version of MPlayer you are running. Try running apt-get to update, I think they compiled a new version a day or two ago.

Did you just make a random file named subfont.ttf, or did you actually use a font? I copied one into the directory and the message went away.

nerim.net provide mplayer debian builds.

nano /etc/apt/sources.list

add this:

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ testing main

Personally though I think VLC is a better player even though mplayer is a bit faster.

But they're both fantastic.

open gmplayer and in the font menu just give mplayer any ttf file you have. The window won't bother you no more
