~/.xsession-errors

This file is growing into a Gargantuesk [SP?] dimension, both within the root-environment and the user-environments (I have 2 users installed on my PC). Megs and Megs literally - the biggest is already over 21 Meg - with always the same 'stupid' remark:

kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /usr/share/icons/[blabla]/ group
[bleble] not valid

For [blabla] read Amaranth, Crux, Default aso aso.
For [bleble] read scalable/apps, 20x20/filesystems aso aso.

Per login approximately 500 of these lines, just imagine the pile of scrap aggregating.

I'm using Sarge and doing "aptitude -u" and thereafter "aptitude -U" every 3 to 4 days but this annoyance is not diminishing.

What is wrong somewhere in my configuration-settings? Or in Sarge?
Tnx.

If you change themes do you still get this problem ?

You could try re-installing kdecore.

Tnx, this set me in the right direction. NOT, that I reinstalled kdecore - I don't like metapackages that install as socalled dependencies a lot of unwanted 'garbage' - but I had a look at the Debian Bug Report logs for kde-core.
And surprise surprise under #265264 this .xsession-errors problem was filed, recognized and (almost) solved:

Date: Sun, 3 Oct 2004 16:50:06 +0200
From: Adeodato =?iso-8859-1?Q?Sim=F3?= <asp16@alu.ua.es>
this is already fixed (in KDE 3.3 in unstable *and* in kde 3.2 in
sarge-proposed-updates, which will enter sarge proper soon).

Only question now remains: how soon is soon with those
guys
