[question] trouble installing debian on vmware 4.05

I'm trying to install Debian "woody" on Vmware 4.05. The problem starts right of the bat. I insert the CD and vmware recognizes it but when I get to the point of partitioning the hard drive it says that there is no hard drive found. It does this even when i try to copy one of my existing VMs (say my Xandros 2 VM). Why oh Why? I am a debianholic and I need help with my fix :D

I don't know why it doesn't install properly by default, but to get around the problem, type bf24 at the boot: prompt. This will install the Linux 2.4 kernel rather than the 2.6 kernel, but at least it works.

yay!!!!! Thanks, your da' man!!!!

Now I have another question....I can't get GDM to come up. Am I using the wrong display driver (I selected vmware as opposed to say vesa)?

Thanks
