X Won't start on all 3 machines

I downloaded DSL 0.8.2 and tried booting on 3 different machines. X wouldn't start on any one of them.

(1)AMD Athlon 2600+ 512MB
I tried booting:
normally
failsafe
expert
fb[all modes]
fb1024x768 acpi=off

(2)PII 500mhz 128MB
I tried booting:
normally
fb800x600 acpi=off

(3)AMD Athlon 2800+ 512MB Compaq Laptop
I tried booting:
normally
failsafe
expert
fb[all modes]
fb1024x768 acpi=off

Every single time I tried to start x, I got this exact same message on all 3 machines:

Code:
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority

insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.o: init module: no such device

Are you talking about running the "wizard" that sets up X86? If so, I've run it like all possible ways, but something still isn't right and X still wont start...
