Wine-installation woes on DSL

My friend and I just revived an old PC using DSL, and we wish to install Wine so we can run a few Windows programs.The problem is that if I try to install the Wine deb using dpkg, I get a whole bunch of missing library issues, but I know that the Wine deb has the libraries in it. Is there anybody else who installed wine under DSL?

Also, if I try to install from source, the configure file tells me that /lib/cpp fails to pas sanity check.

What do you mean the wine package "has the libraries in it"? If it's giving you a dependency error, then obviously it needs some libraries installed separately. They are either not installed, are the wrong versions, or are in a place that dpkg can't locate.

Where did you get the wine package you're trying to install?
