Will this laptop run DSL?

Ok so my grandma got a new laptop and gave me her old one, and windows 95 is on it, and its got to go.

I have looked at installing many distros but with the low end hardware im dealing with ive ruled out pretty much all of them except for DSL.

Specs:
Pentium 1 @ 133Mhz
Hitachi 2GB Harddrive
16MB Samsung RAM
like 4mb of video RAM

Mainly i want to just browse the net, at a relativly decent speed, (it could do this if it had more then a 33.6K modem installed), type in some form of word like program. I read there is something even lighter then openoffice, but i can't recall the name of it. Use dillo as a web browser. I would also like to setup samba to listen to music on it from over the network (not sure if DSL has samba built into it).

Would i be able to install DSL to the harddrive (2gb), and run like XFCE, or IceWM, at decent speeds (as KDE and Gnome are completly out of the question).

DSL can run on a 486 .. so most likely will run on your laptop.
it has a decent text editor , and dillo is quite fast( at least faster than FF :P )
you can install it on your HD.(and you'll still have lots of free disk space left)
i dont think xfce will work with this amount of ram ..

dunno about your other questions ..

you can download samba as an extension. you have anough space on that drive.

however, you don't actually need the samba server package - only the stuff to browse windows shares - not sure on dsl, but "smbclient" might already be included. look in your extensions.

you can download just about anything using "apt" (debian) but you will soon run into hardware slowness with 133 mhz. there is a writing programme included....

i think XFCE cannot run on 16mb

what WM could i run on this then? Is there one?

just the default one... although i am not sure even that would work with so little RAM
