trouble with wireless internet access in dsl

i just put dsl on an old laptop that has a d-link dwl-650 pcmcia wireless card in it.. i cant figure out how to get it to connect to my wireless network.. when i check with the "PCMCIA Tool" under the control panel it shows the name of the card in slot 1.. but when i try to run "Wlanconfig" it says no wireless network card found.. i'm also kinda a newb to linux.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks!

Often, D-link used differnt chipset under same name -different hardware revision-
