trouble installing

Ok, i am trying to install linux on a computer that used to run windows me but got a virus, It won`t boot from cd so i tried using the floppy to get it to boot the cd but that wouldn`t work the windows me screen just ends up coming back.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem?

It uses an scsi card which i find a pain to deal with could that cause problems? It seems to overide the motherboard bios for booting.

do you have the boot first option set for your cd/floppy on your bios.
or try removing the scsi card ( whatever that is) and put it back when installation completes. although this doesnt seem to be a good idea, you could do it.

the problem is i can`t install without the scsi card due to the fact that the hard drive is connected to the scsi card and so is the cd drive. I tried puting the scsi card in my computer and hooking up the hard drive and i managed to get it to boot at first but it would not continue to run past the first command prompt where it asks you if you would like to use any boot options.

Could this just be a bad cd? or a combination of the two?
