Trouble finding my CD drive...

On dsl, i can't find my cd drive. The file manager is really confusing, and the file manager i want to use is on a cd!
You can give me text commands for the file manager, whatever works!

cd drive is usually /dev/hdc, it will be mounted somewhere in /mnt or /media, go hunt for it... if in doubt do: umount /dev/hdc, followed by mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder ... now you know where it is.

DSL native file manager (fluxbox?) is text based and actually very powerful. It will be easiest, since a HDD installed DSL is <drum roll> Debian, to apt-get the file-manager you want anyway.

Thanks! My problem was that my cd drive was showing up, but not the data. I didn't know what 'mount' was, but i figured it out.

yeah - man mount.

You are in the vangaard of a new generation of linux users then. Those that have not had to learn the finer points of the command line. "apropos" is a good command to know if you want to hunt down man pages i.e.
Code:
]$ apropos CDROM
autorun (1) - automatically mounts/unmounts CDROMs and executes /path_to_cdrom/autorun after mounting
