Edit. It doesn't always work though but try it and report here what happens. There is a description somewhere here in LQ? As I remember one should read the email from them very carefully and do as they say. I am very bad at such so I failed to get exactly what was expected of me so I gave it all up. I didn't trust they wanted my very naive questions anyway. But don't give up search for the descriptions on how to do it. You have to write to a special address they gave in that first letter one receive. The reason they give is to sift out those who want to spam them. Bots and such but they have done it very hard for us. I'm sure they sat it is super easy. It is always easy for somebody who gets how to do something. :) |

Here is how it goes: 1. You register in the forum 2. You get an automated email telling you to send them and email to let them know you are a real person. and you get an activation link too. 3. You wait..... 4. You get a reply for your email telling you that you are good to go.. 5. You are good to go! You could also find the forum rules here (http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Forum_Rules) Their contact email is { dsl.reg at gmail dot com } Good luck |
Thanks for your reply.
As I registered, I received an automated email to confirm my registration as you mentioned but, for myself, the procedure failed by returning an error code indicating that some required fields are missing. Both link and return code methods present in this email failed same way. Well, waiting more successfully moment with DSL board, I'll concentrate my forum activity dedicated to DSL to the present LinuxQuestions.org forum. Bye, Bruno |
It works now. I received an email confirmation from John.
 Bye, Bruno |
this is obsurd
|
You are right Andale
This is obsurd Looks like the guys at DSL have no time to moderate the forum Personally, I can't log in anymore into the forums. |
Please read this post by noprob (thanks noprob!) it may shed some light on why some of you are still waiting to be approved for the DSL forums.

I have not been able to get it to work either. I tried emailing John also back on July 9th with no response. I may ditch DSL and move on to Puppy.

DSL is dead people
New DSL is called Tinycore |
More than one side to this
I'm a total Linux noob who was advised to try DSL because my hardware's so old.
I did a frugal install of DSL on a 10 year old notebook and, as a noob, have got some stuff working. I have the aforementioned problem with registering/posting at the DSL forum. My registration attempts errored out, but I can log in. I can't post. I've sent 2 emails to reg.dsl@gmail.com but haven't received a reply. It's only been 1 week for me. Perusing the DSL forum, I see that there's some sort of personal split between a couple of the principal figures in DSL. I'm not going to take sides--I'm too new and haven't read much about the history of the disagreement. I took a quick peek at the Tinycore web site and see that it's apparently Robert Shingledecker's baby. I only want to say I'd also like to hear from John about the state of DSL, dead or merely in ICU. Everyone's voice should be heard when there are disagreements. That is all. |
(I had a question about submitting new DSL extensions, but then I read the article on DistroWatch, so I deleted the question.)
Hmm, I'll have to take a look at TinyCore for future projects... |
