network configuration


I'm nooby in linux, using dsl 3.x.x in my 4gb thumb drive and make it bootable, thats run smoothly.
I never configuring both of DHCP or Static IP, so I never using it to acces to the web. I need to acces the web using linux and I always using both of that setting (DHCP and Static IP), anyone can help me, great thanks for your help.

First you better ask your question in the dsl forum. www.damnsmalllinux.org has a very nice forum. Second, I don't quite understand your question. Do you have internet? If not, are you using wired or wireless network? For wired network, DSL almost always configures it correctly and the only thing will be how your network is configured. If you are using a router, the DHCP will always work. If you have a wireless network card, then the first thing you need to check is if your network card is properly detected. Then you can set the network using /sbin/iwconfig. If you have any question, go to the dsl forum and search for existing information. Most of the card drivers are included as dsl extensions.
