Need to uninstall DSL
I have an old computer on which I have loaded onto the hard drive.
Unfortunately when I boot the computer I do not get control of the USB mouse and keyboard until some way through the boot. As a result I am not able to get into BIOS to enable me to boot off a LiveCD. So, please. how do I uninstall DSL Sandy |
I'm not sure I understand the question fully. First of all, you already have DSL installed, but want to remove it? What do you want to put in it's place? Whatever OS you want to install can just be setup to overwrite whatever is installed on the drive anyway, so there is no need to manually remove a preexisting OS.
As for the USB keyboard issue, that is probably because you don't have legacy USB support enabled in the BIOS (I am assuming this is a rather old machine). The easiest way to get around that is to simply plug in a PS/2 keyboard long enough to get into the BIOS and adjust the USB settings. After that you should be able to access the BIOS configuration with USB input devices. |
Cant get into BIOS

With DSL installed on the hard drive I cant get control of the USB keyboard until part way through the DSL boot by which time it's too late to get into BIOS. If I was once in Bios and could boot of a LiveCD I could install a different OS. I have tried using a PS2 to USB adapter but no joy. So is the answer to delete all he partitions into which DSL is installed? Sandy |
Thanks for all the advice but I have to advise you that the computer now appears to have died completely.
Lets close this thread Thanks, Sandy |
