Need to buy a 802.11g card for DSL

I picked up an old laptop that's rather weak (I think 233 MHz, 32 MB RAM). I'm looking for a small distro that will be just enough to run a web browser, and hopefully quickly. I suspect DSL is my best bet.

But there's a problem. The laptop doesn't have ethernet, and thus I need to use wireless. I need another wireless card, and have a Best Buy gift card. Can anyone confirm if any of the cards they sell are natively supported by DSL?

Better check the pcmcia card slot first. Need to check to see if it is a 16bit creditcard or 32bit pc card slot. Here is some info on the differences. http://www.pcmcia.org/faq.htm

Good point on PCMCIA vs Cardbus. A couple of points to consider, though -- you're not necessarily restricted to wireless if you can find a PCMCIA ethernet adapter; also, while DSL is a great small distro, you may also want to look into VectorLinux as it also works very well on older hardware.

This may help - http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/i...Wireless_Cards . ndiswrapper is also installed by default in dsl which makes life easier.

Excellent. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
