Exclamation Looking for remastered DSL (kernel 2.6 series)

Does anybody know where I can find a remastered version of DSL that has a 2.6 kernel? I downloaded the latest one but it does not have support for my graphics and wifi as it is a 2.4 kernel.

I have an intel 3945abg wifi card and intel 965GM graphics card.

I do not know how to remaster a distro. I've read some instructions but it did not work for me. Maybe the instructions were too vague? Idk.

Thanks!!

Brittany

hi

sorry for replying and not giving you the answer you require.

1) could you expand on why your hard drive install is not working pls?

2) according to sidux factoid....IMHO the net is the more important issue consider this

3) Is that the only live cd you have considered...because I know that sysrescue has a forum and docs on remastering?

Have you tried downloading DSL-N (The 'N' stand for "Not DSL"), which is a fork of DSL using the 2.6.x kernel, and other application upgrades?

It isn't SIMPLY "DSL with the 2.6 kernel", because there are other changes as well, such as Abiword instead of Ted, Gnumeric instead of SIAG, Seamonkey instead of Firefox/Sylpheed, Fluxbox instead of JWM as the default window manager, and a different interface for the MyDSL extension browser, just to name a few examples.

The DSL-N iso is 95.3 Megs compared to DSL's 49.9 Megs. It still runs as a Live CD, and I've gotten it to run fine on my old Pentium II with 96mb of RAM.

The full DSL-N web site is here. It includes the download links: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-n/.
