Hello all, some more newbie questions

Basically i will be setting up a wireless jukebox with an old machine lying around
but so far i can't even get over the smallest hurdles.

Firstly i tried to install firefox but got the error libgtk-x11..... etc shared file error
which seems to be pretty common, and i am having absolutely no luck finding a
suitible download, let alone actually getting it to work with dsl. Can someone
please point me in the right direction for instruction or download or anything.

Secondly i have tried to upload the kernel to 2.6.9 (says latest stable version) but
also no luck as all the instructions i could find seem to not apply to this release.
Once again can someone provide some insight? The reason i wanted to upgrade
the kernel is for the better wireless support. I have a netgear wg311 (which i have
heard causes problems) to install.

I hope someone can help me out here as this distro seems to be a real solid little
performer.
