installing DSL on hard drive


i'm trying to install DSL on my laptop had drive but when i put in DSL live CD it start to run and i can see that DSL is trying to run by CD but it never load all the way and do not go to the DSL OS window at all. so how can i install the DSL in to HD

for the live CD i have dsl-4.4.6 am i using wrong DSL since i see other DSL iso in download?

how did you burn the cd as a data disk ( just one file called "dsl-4.4.6.iso") or disk image ( a bunch of files on it )
also you need to reboot with the cd in the drive .

i used nero for burning image by using image burner

like i said cd is working fine as far as i can tell since DSL do start to load when i restart my computer but it just froze at point of loading.

What kind of laptop is it? I ask because sometimes on a first boot while investigating the hardware it seems to hang for a long time on somethings. Give it a few minutes to see if it goes. If not you might have an issue with a hdd controller or something.

and do you have anything plugged in on usb .I know on my desktop Knoppix hangs on detecting my HP printer ( para port ,not usb)

thanks for all the reply it was my pcmcia card things and i disabled it


but now i have new problem it say
b44: eth0: transnit timed out resetting.
giving up.
xinit: no such file or directory (errno2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: no such procesc (errno3): server error

how do i fix this?

PS. my laptop is samsung senS X11
