Install from A Parallel port CDrom?
Hi, I want to install DSL on an old toshiba satellite 400 CS, 70 mhz, 40 mb RAM, I have an external parallel port MicroSolutions backpack 4x, I have burned the boot floppy, and I have a CD with DSL, the floppy loads fine, but after that I have no clue on how to mount the paride drivers so the floppy can read the external CD rom to install, Im not a Linux guru ( just a power user)
any help will be appreciated PS, I tried to post at the DSL forums, but for some reason I cant, emailed the admin several times and I never got an answer, talk about being nice... :( |

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. Hope this helps |
OK, I believe I may have been misunderstood, I have an old micro solutions "back pack" external parallel 4X CD ROM drive, and I want to install the DSL operating system in an old toshiba satellite 400 cs, I need to install the parallel port drivers so the computer (lap top) can communicate with the external CDROM drive ( parallel port)
the lap top doesnt have a CD rom drive, thats why I want it to be able to access the parallel port external CDROM drive with the boot floppy ( loaded in RAM), so I can install the operating system...any idea on how I can do it?. thanks for your support. |
