Having trouble with DSL File Management: USB flash drive files

I'm a newbie. Just got a DSL Live disk going and I'm considering a hard drive install. However, I'm having trouble navigating the file structure of DSL. I have my flash memory stick installed. I see SDA1 in the fluxbox slit, now how do I get into the files on it?

1) In the fluxbox slit I can toggle a tiny button so it reverses its orientation and turns green. What exactly does this do?

2) In EmelFM the only tree I can explore is /ramdisk/. Is this normal?

3) Is there a link that I can explore that will teach me the ins and outs of this environment? I hate to repeat what has likely been asked many times....

Thanks in advance!

You can use the slit to mount it by clicking the little button that looks like a screw. You can also do the same thing in emelfm after having plugged in the usb drive and going to /mnt/sda1, right click on it and select 'mount'. Another way of doing the same in the shell is becoming root and typing 'mount /dev/sda1 mnt/sda1' and to unmount type 'umount /mnt/sda1'. Once the drive has been mounted you should be able to look at whats on the drive by navigating to /mnt/sda1 in emelfm (from /ramdisk you will have to go up a directory to see /mnt) or from the shell.

Hope this helps.

Weird. I couldn't get up another directory above ramdisk....

I'll play with it some more and post how it turns out.
