DSL won't boot up (neither will INSERT)

I just downloaded both DSL and INSERT and neither will boot up... full knoppix does just fine though!

I get the same error message on both only DSL gives me a diffferent one first...

booting DSL::::

Error: Only ONE processor found
hdf:drive not ready for command
hdf:drive not ready for command
hdf:drive not ready for command
(~so on and so forth~)

BOOTING INSERT:

hdf:drive not ready for command
hdf:drive not ready for command
hdf:drive not ready for command
(....etc, etc...)

i don't understand why it's looking for hdf anyways?? if anyone has any ideas please let me know... I haven't tried it on any other computers yet... so i don't know if it's just this box er what...
