DSL HardDrive Access

Hi,

Less than 4 hours into Linux and I'm very impressed.

I'm using DSL on a laptop, booted from the cd, Can I access the local hard drive ?

(PS I dont know any "commands" but have used smbclient to an other windows PC no problem)

Cheers

Useful commands at a terminal console:

mount (with no arguments) lists all of the block devices that are accessible.

ls -al /
/usr
/home

list what is in those directories. That might give you clues.

If you need help with commands there is a small book called the Linux Pocket Guide. I own a copy myself, its very usefull when you need to find a command. And to note far more organized then the manuals that every command has (man [option]).
