DSL Custom display resolution

Hello all,
I've got an old Sony Vaio C1VFK that I'm trying to breathe life back into. I tried Xubuntu but even that stressed the laptop more than I liked so I installed Damn Small Linux. The problem is that the display is an unusual 1024x480 size. In Ubuntu I'd just edit the xorg.conf file and add a modeline but DSl doesn't have Xorg.cong. It has some other system that I don't understand. If I go in through the various options in the DSL menus then they just offer me the prepackaged standard choices - 1024x768, 800x600, 1280x1024. There's nowhere to put in my own specs...

Or is there? Anyone know how to modify this?

DSL can be hard to setup on a old machine-see my posts about my Toshiba 7000CT -( ).
Anyway-neither DSL/Feather/or DSL-N would work and they probably don't have what you need anyway as they don't do well installed to a HD.
I am now installing Slackware 12.2 to the laptop, as I had Debian Lenny, Wolvix-Cub, and GoblinX-Micro-2.7 installed in my distro contest.
I now believe I should go with the parent of wolvix/goblinx(Slackware)-as Slack has the ideal components for an old-low-ram laptop.
Both Slackware 12.2 and Debian Lenny can run on low-ram machines-so check out all your options....
Need any help just ask..
