DSL 4.2.5 install freezes computer
 

I'm trying to install DSL 4.2.5 on a Toshiba Tecra 8000. I've specified "dsl noacpi noapm" at the boot prompt, but it appears to still get frozen shortly after skipping the ACPI work (it freezes immediately the message "Skipping ACPI Bios detection as requested on boot commandline."). Anyone have any other ideas to try?

Have you tried "noauto" ? And are you sure you haven't made a typo ? I think it's noapci ... not noacpi ... but maybe I'm the one who has it wrong....

There's definitely no typo on "noacpi" -- if there was, I wouldn't have seen the "Skipping ACPI Bios detection..." message.

I tried "noauto" to no avail; it still hangs immediately after the ACPI message. :(

Same problem on my Tosh Tecra 8000
 

My attempt to run DSL hangs after the ACPI message.

I get : " ... ac battery button fan processor thermal"

And that's it !!

No idea what causes this.
