You will have to enter your BIOS (press F10 at the bootup screen) and go to where you can change the boot sequence. If you can put the CD drive ahead of the hard drive in the boot sequence, that is what you need to do. Otherwise, you will need a boot floppy to help you boot to CD (the instructions for creating this should be somewhere on the dsl website).
If your BIOS is outdated for some other reason (e.g., you find that you cannot upgrade to a hard drive bigger than 32GB or that your time and date is not Y2K-compliant), you might have to get a BIOS upgrade. Usually this involves obtaining a special floppy image from your vendor.

Actually Win89 is still on my computer will I have to uninstall it, or will DSL erase it when I boot and install it?

If you don’t need any of the stuff on it, you can have DSL erase it. If you need some of the stuff on it, you can have DSL resize it to make space for your own partition. Some older Compaq machines had initial partitions for the BIOS. You will
NOT want to touch those at all (else you might brick your machine).

Yes. If your BIOS supports booting off a USB port (using a thumb drive), you might try that instead of a CD.
