Choosing Grub or Lilo

How do I get a regular HDInstall to give me the choice between Grub or Lilo? It comes up to the install bootloader (grub or lilo) & I type lilo, but it installs grub. I can't edit grub. I've read all the pages, but can't seem to get the handle on it. Lilo I can do from scratch. Someone help please. Thank you for your time & trouble.

Hello!

The menulist for grub is placed in /boot/grub/menu.lst.

For further detail consult the homepage of grub: http://www.grub.org

Greetings

That link is dead now & like I've said. I've read the instructions for grub & can't get it right. I want to install lilo when I'm installing DSL. With lilo I can build a new lilo.conf from scratch, on a blank sheet of paper. I hate grub. I need to know how to make "LILO" install. Thank you for your time & trouble.

Might I suggest a frugal install? This uses one partition to hold the image and one partition for your home, opt and backup/restore. It is a hard drive install, but I would definately recommend it over a traditional hard drive install. With this there are also seperate install scripts for lilo and grub.
Here is a link to a great pdf that will take you step by step through a frugal install for lilo. Check it out and see if this is something that would suit your needs.
