Can't Boot From CD, Boot Manager Doesn't Work
My computer is an IBM IntelliStation M Pro (An older version) and I'm trying to install DSL on it, but I can't set it to boot from CD. I tried the Smart Boot Manager program, but when it starts up, I can't see my CD drives. My Windows 98SE installation isn't working right and I can only get in through safe mode. I checked the device manager and found that Windows detects my CD drives, so I'm pretty sure they're connected alright.
I really want to install DSL on my computer, but I can't find a way to fix my problem....I've been working on it for hours....... Can anyone help me? |
it could be that the cdrom is not the first boot device setup in your bios.

That's the problem, I can't set it to be the first boot device in my BIOS.
My BIOS won't recognize the CD-ROM drive. |
I have encountered such problems only when there was master/slave configuration problem. check your hdd and cdrom jumper pins make sure one is master and the other slave.

Yep, that fixed it.....
Thanks a lot, I've been up all night trying to work around the lack of CD-ROM boot..... It's always something simple that gets overlooked, huh? |
