Hi all! :)

First of all, hi all conectiva users!

I discover this distro just for case!

I have a little question, hoping you can help me!

Wich is the updated source for apt?

i was using ftp.nl.org, but i saw that it is not updated since a year!!!!

Actualizacoes is so slowly and doesn't work for a check!

So any suggest? There's a chance to see gnome2 on my conectiva linux?

Tnx of all!

hi there Viceversa

this are the ones that i use:

rpm ftp://ftp.nl.linux.org/pub/conectiva 8/conectiva main extra kde gnome games

rpm ftp://ftp.nl.linux.org/pub/conectiva/atualizacoes 8/conectiva updates

just look for them on your /etc/apt/sources.list file and remove the # symbol in front of them

then, make sure that the rest of the lines in that file begin with a #

about updates: the last update that i have notice of, took place on 2003-03-03 19:30:00 and was a fix for a remote vulnerability found on the sendmail package.

if you'd like to be e-mailed every time that a new update is made available, you could subscribe to Conectiva's updates mailing list. Just send an empy e-mail to atualizacoes-anuncio-subscribe@papal...nectiva.com.br

by the way , where are you from?

see ya

Hi Viceversa,

The version you are using is from the snapshot version, try to install from the updated version (usually recognized in names by U80) the last update is:

XFree86-4.2.0-21U80_2cl.i386.rpm

Other repositories can be found in this thread :

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=33643

hope that helps ...

so you think that problem is the new xfree?

i can start x now, but only the simplest mode!

grey windows and in the upper left corner a shell! if i write starkde i say that couldn't not localize kdeinit!

with synaptic it says me i have broken dependecies, and it suggest to correct them! But it will remove 13 essential package! (apt too!) and 54x other package!

it s a good idea to install conectiva again with minimal (s.o only) and than use snapnshot to upgrade and install packages?

If you want to instal from snapshot it's a good idea, the oficial snapshot is already frozen because of the release of cl9, so if you install all packages, probably will be stable. But if you install only some packages, its possible that you have some problems ...
