You take the source code.. and modify it... stick your own logo on it, and call it biscuitboy linux.. LMAO!!!

Essentially, that's all you need to do... now in order for that you need a good understanding of the programming languages in order to make any sense out of it.. but that's the basic idea... some do nothing more than change colors/graphics/logos and call it their own... Take a look at Linare screenshots... remind you of anything?? perhaps a clone of Fedora Core... lol.. this is especially obvious looking at the installation screenshots...

so you're not wanting to develop your own distrobution of linux than....

all you want to do is remove programs???

I assume you're using College Linux... I've never used college.. So I'm not sure what format it uses for package management... May I suggest that you read some documentation on your distro?? That's what you need to do...

Currently I'm using Slackware 10 and SuSE 9.1 Professional...

It's not too difficult to change your OS... especially removing packages... if there's something that you want to remove udner Red Hat... being that it's RPM based... you could do something like this:

Say you want to remove gaim, or xchat... command would be like this..

"rpm -e gaim" or "rpm -e xchat"

and that will remove the program... As for other types of customizations that can be done... as I'm sure you've realized.. Nearly everything with linux is done in simple text files... But I can't just tell you how to do everything you want without knowing anything specific you are looking for...

My suggestion is to decide on something you would like to change.. or do... or remove.. etc... And google for it.. if you do't find the results.. then post up here... Good Luck..

if you're using red hat, i'll assume you're using GNOME, so the terminal program is gnome-terminal. Just type in the commands at the prompt.
