hotsync palm with usb to serial adapter and configuring lilo

i have a usb to serial adapter that i use to hot sync my palm pilot and i am tring to use palm link, pretter sure its set up right, CL does see the adapter and knows what it is from the startup thing and i think i got the port from that but when i go to select that port with palm link it tells me to push my hot sync button then i wait forever for nothing to happen so do is the com port for that serial different than the adapter it self or am i just screwed up and doing something idiotic?

also could some help point me in the right direction of getting my lilo configured to set windows as default and the timer to work i am not sure how.

PS. Please try to make stupid proof, am major linux newbie but am great with windows

Thanks,
Synonim
