Unhappy Booting on Laptop Problems

I have an hp/compaq nx9010 laptop. About a week ago i installed CL on it as a dual-boot system with Windoze XP Pro. The installation appeared sucessful, i got no error messages and the partitioning worked well too. No here is the problem: when ever i select the CL in the boot loader, CL appears to boot well and goes through all the scrolling text and tests that it does until it gets to a line that says "ehci_hcd 00:0b.2: VIA Technologies, Inc. USB 2.0" once it gets to this point it just sits there with its blinking cursor and doens't do anything (i have left it on for hours and nothing happens). Another point of interest is i don't have any usb 2.0 on this laptop and never have. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

Seems like cl hangs when probing for the usb device. See if you can find the line in the startup scripts maybe just the module section will do, and comment out the line where the usb device is called and you should be fine.
Most distributions have some kind of rescue disk or cd. Try using this.

I had a issue with the bootloader, Instead of loading lilo like it was supposed to, it came up with a non-gui version of grub with command line???

Usually when you see the non gui grub interface something is wrong with your mbr. Usually from installing a new OS and not installing the new bootloader to your mbr.
