jpilot install from unsupported repository?

Hi,

sorry to bother you but just wondering about jpilot and how to use it in CentOS.

how would you install something not available in the repository?

would you simply not use it? Or, use it in a virtual machine?

thank you.

I guess you can try out the Fedora 12 package,
if you are using the Fedora 12 based CentOS 6.

HOWTO use yum :
# yum -localinstall --nogpgcheck <path-to>/jpilot-1.6.2-3.fc12.<arch>.rpm

You can build a CentOS package :
$ rpmbuild -bb jpilot.spec

1.6.2 http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pu...3.fc12.src.rpm

1.8.0 http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pu...1.fc14.src.rpm

Hi knudfl,

Thank you!

Would you kindly explain the relationship between CentOS and Fedora? For example, I'm using CentOS 7. Is there a Fedora release that would be its equal?

Thank you again.

← #3 .

CentOS 7 / RHEL 7 is said to origin from Fedora 18 - 19 - 20.

Many of the Fedora packages are already available from "epel.repo"
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

As CentOS 7 / RHEL 7 is a server OS, some 5,000-6,000 packages
are neither in the main repo, or in epel.repo.

And no 3'party repo has jpilot.
Suggest : Try out the Fedora 18 "jpilot-1.8.1-4.fc18.x86_64.rpm"
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedo...c18.x86_64.rpm
