Good day,
How do I connect a Linux client to a Windows child domain?
I am tasked with setting up a new computer lab comprising only Linux workstations. I am one of two Systems Administrator for the child domain students.one.edu and normal users of the one.edu parent domain.
The parent domain one.edu is responsible for dns, time synchronisation and dhcp.
I installed the following packages on the Linux client: krb5-workstation SSSD realmd samba-common-tools samba-common oddjob oddjob-mkhomedir adcli
When I check the resolv.conf file I'm seeing the dns information for the parent domain:
Search one.edu
Nameserver 192.168.5.42
Nameserver 192.168.5.1
I joined the students.one.edu domain successfully, the sssd.conf file reflects the students.one.edu domain ads info also but I am not able to query user info using the id command.
When i run the id
dblake@students.one.edu I get a "students:no user" error
I hope I have asked the question correctly and with adequate information.
Thanks in advance for your time.
