CentOS Mount Command Issue

Greetings all,

I'm running CentOS 6.8 and I'm trying to use the mount command to check a few cd/dvd's I have to see if anything is on them. All updates have been applied.

I'm really confuse how to do this. I've tried a number of different variations of the mount command and still can't get the mount command to work.

Below is a listing of my fstab so you can see there is anything wrong there.

I running this on my MAC using Fusion. Other then this everything works.

Any help will be appreciated.

[root@centos /]# cat /etc/fstab

#
# /etc/fstab
# Created by anaconda on Fri Sep 14 16:13:06 2012
#
# Accessible filesystems, by reference, are maintained under '/dev/disk'
# See man pages fstab(5), findfs(8), mount(8) and/or blkid(8) for more info
#
/dev/mapper/vg_centos63-lv_root / ext4 defaults 1 1
UUID=7ccee229-0512-460b-a2ec-bdedb166bee4 /boot ext4 defaults 1 2
/dev/mapper/vg_centos63-lv_swap swap swap defaults 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
[root@centos /]# mount iso9660 /dev/sr0/mnt
mount: you must specify the filesystem type

The correct syntax is:
Code:
mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt
The mount command should automatically detect the filesystem if -t iso9660 is not used.

Did you connect the physical drive to the VM?

Very good question.

Getting the following messages after issuing the command you stated. There is a dvd in the drive. I'm getting the following messages and almost seems that the OS isn't seeing the DVD drive.

Problem is I don't know how to have the MAC/Fusion can see the drive. Will have to ask some more questions...else where.

[root@centos /]# mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0

I assume that it works the same in mac os like windows/linux. The default "optical" drive is virtual. You can insert an ISO file into the virtual drive and mount it like a real disc. To access real hardware you need to connect the drive to the VM. You should be able to search fhe web and find a how to.
